6th Year History students accompanied by teachers Mr. John Ryan and Ms. Nora Mai Granville traveled to Krakow, Poland on September 4th 2018. This has been the first time the History department has ventured on a foreign excursion. On the first day students took a walking tour of the old city of Krakow. Later, the UNESCO World Heritage Salt Mines in Wieliczka where they took in the breathtaking Church 1500m below ground. The second day was a sobering reminder of the atrocities of WWII with a visit to Auschwitz-Birkineau – the largest German concentration camp in the Third Reich. The following day, students explored Oskar Schindlers factory while taking some much needed time to shop. A trip that was hugely successful and a once in a lifetime experience for the students.
