Coláiste/Gaelcholáiste Choilm Parents Association invite parents/guardians to attend the following presentation on Monday Oct 7th at 7pm.
The Parent Association AGM will follow this presentation.
‘KNOW IT ALL?’
Parenting young people who have access to all the information and know it all
(or do they?)
In this presentation Liam Doocey will explore questions that are relevant for everyone in Ireland to-day including;
– How do we communicate effectively?
– When is consent consensual and how is it negotiated?
– How do we put our own needs first ensuring our own resilience is developed and continually maintained?
– How do we look out for those we love and care about?
Liam will introduce the concept of the 4C’s which he and his colleagues have developed in their book titled ‘Sex & You: A Modern Irish Perspective’, which they suggest are the cornerstones of any relationship; namely ‘Communication, Consent, Care for Self and Consideration for the Other’.
Liam Doocey is professional youth worker who has worked with young people, parents/guardians and professionals for 28 years.
